History
The business of Bunting & Sons, "nurserymen", was established at 28 Lexden Road, Colchester in 1820 by Isaac Bunting and ownership of the firm has
passed down from generation to generation of the Bunting family ever since. The history of Bunting & Sons spans seven generations and our roots are firmly entrenched in the area, having been based in the borough of Colchester throughout
our entire history with various international offshoots from time to time. Some of our activities in the past have been rather visionary for their time and place in history, for example in the 1880's Isaac Bunting set up a nursery and
other businesses in Yokohama, Japan to grow and export back to the UK exotic lily bulbs. In more recent years, Bunting Biological Control were awarded The Queens Award for Export Achievement for pioneering work on biological control for crop protection worldwide. Throughout its history the whole ethos of the business has always been about quality and through research, development and attention to detail this attitude to
business has passed from generation to generation. This section provides an overview of the first 5 generations of Bunting & Sons - looking at the partners of the business, their achievements and the directions
in which they took the business whilst it was under their control. |
