Heritage Farm

The Anchor Inn Heritage Farm, including a large “kitchen garden” extends to about 100 acres and in conjunction with other parts of the Bunting and Sons Estate it delivers a wealth of fresh produce to the Anchor’s kitchen.  Our aspiration is the simplicity of delivering food to the table from the land closest to it, but in a way that restores and conserves a natural working landscape.

Using traditional farming methods including Suffolk "Punch" heavy horses food production is that of a less hurried time when livestock and crops developed naturally and old fashioned flavour was everything.  Meat from the Estate guarantees quality and freshness in harmony with good care and a free-range life.

There is complete synergy between the farm field and the kitchen and as much of our food as possible is sourced from the Anchor Inn Heritage Farm.  The Heritage Farm delivers a wealth of produce to The Anchor including meat, vegetables and fruit from Norfolk black turkeys at Christmas to figs in the height of summer and trout from our well stocked lake.

The conservation of the Suffolk "Punch" breed is a crucial element of the Heritage Farm giving the horses a working purpose and promoting the breed.

You are welcome to wander around our adjoining Heritage Farm to have a look at the herb and vegetable production in the “kitchen garden” and see the livestock, happy and thriving in the non intensive natural farming environment managed to also encourage a richness and diversity of wildlife.

We are building up our stock of Suffolk "Punches" which now number 12, including 4 foals that are the result of our breeding programme.  The breeding programme is ongoing and we hope to have further additions in the future.
